Awful Movie Moments

Hey, everyone! Sorry for my leave of absense, and although I don't have a post for you today, I do have a collaborative post I participated in over at Muppets for Justice.

Go check out Awful Movie Moments, and read out me and Addman's breakdowns of some of the worst movie quotes of all time.

IN COMPLETELY UNRELATED NEWS:

I've been on the search for a new home for a while now, but I'm really applying myself as of recent. So, the reason I've been MIA is because I've been running all over the state looking for houses and such.

Some of you may have heard me say my offer was accepted on a ridiculously cheap condo a few months back. Well, I never ended up getting that one as a state law of Massachusetts prohibits anyone to recieve a loan if the closing cost exceeds 5% of the amount of the loan. Lovely, lovely Massachusetts.

Also, I just got bent over on three more offers this weekend. So, I'm doing some hardcore house humping and hunting which is the main reason for my absense.

Also, my job is giving me a hard time about the schedule I've been working since I was hired. They want me to stay an extra 10 minutes everyday to arrive home an hour later (My commute is already an hour and a half).

  1. So that means that if you just need a small loan to cover the difference on a house, you're screwed in Massachusetts?

    Nice.

    1. Yep. There were tens of offers after mine as well. No one was able to get the loan, so now the condo's on the market for 80k instead of the original 40k.

    2. Bah, I forgot the include the 5% part. If the closing cost exceeds 5% of the amount of the loan you can't get it. That makes sense now.

  2. Pah, houses! Who needs 'em? Did our cave-dwelling ancestors need houses? No, I'm not sure what they lived in, but it wasn't a house that's for sure!

    1. True. They also didn't have people knocking on their cave wall asking for the month's rent. Bah, to live in the good ol' days of cave-mannery.

  3. I can't figure out which is worse, buying a car or buying a house. Maybe both? (Insert redneck joke about house with wheels)

    1. I've never bought a home. So far it's taking the cake, though. I bought my car in a day. I'm going on over half a year for a house/condo.

    2. I resent that comment...my house DOES have wheels!

  4. Aww Chiz, sorry you're having such a crap time. Being an adult and doing adulty things like buying houses and working, sucks hard. :)

    1. I don't want to be an adult anymore! I want to sit around in baby diapers puking all over myself!

  5. That is one rough commute you have. I hope you can find your way to a nice new home soon. I saw that post you made with Addman and like I said there, it was hilarious as you two really bounced off eachother well.

    1. It's not so bad since I'm on the train most of the time, but people often suck, so that's a part of the issue.

And, thank, Mark! It was a lot of fun doing the collab.

  6. House hunting sucks...whether renting or buying!

    1. Hopefully I won't have to wind of renting. In Mass it's often times more expensive to rent than to buy which makes absolutely no sense.

  7. House hunting can be a real pain. I hope you soon find something suitable.

    1. So do I. Though, I'm living rent free at my mother's house, so I shouldn't be compaining at all.

  8. Problem solved! Move in where you work...that's what I did. No commute. No homeowner bills. Free wifi!! Serious dude.

    1. I would if I didn't hate the city so much. Plus, they have watch guard proxies set up. How will I watch porn?

  9. I did a lot of house hunting last summer. It was fun and frustrating. I found one and it fell through. Good luck on finding yours.

    1. Yeah, I've had about 4 fall through so far. Hopefully this most recent works out. I way overshot the offer, so it better.

  10. I'm almost afraid to admit this but I worked in real estate before I got sick (maybe that's what made me sick?). Yeah, home buying sucks right now, no doubt. Just a feeling, but I think within the next few months, it won't. It will be more in your favor and while that may not help you now, maybe it will give you something to look forward to?

We bought our house six months before the market turned so now we are so far under water we can't even refi unless we want to come up with a ton o' cash. *shudder*

I wish you the best, Chiz.

    1. Thans, Elsie!

Yeah, the housing market may be increasing, but so are the prices. I don't make all that much money so I have to act fast or else everything will be out of my price range.

Hopefully this most recent one works out. I overshot an offer on a condo, so I hope no one beats me to it.
